Trauma-Informed Approach
Many people carry experiences that are difficult to put into words.
Memories do not always arrive as a clear story. They may surface through fragments, images, emotions, sensations, recurring themes, or moments that return unexpectedly over time.
Not every memory needs to be fully explored.
Not every story needs to be told from beginning to end.
Sometimes simply noticing what is present can be meaningful.
My approach has been shaped by experience in adult learning, trauma-sensitive yoga, reflective facilitation, and work that recognises the connection between our stories, our bodies, and our lived experiences.
Whether we are engaging in conversation, life story exploration, memoir work, story circles, or reflective writing, the work is guided by several principles.
Choice
You decide what feels appropriate to explore.
You are welcome to pause, redirect, take a break, or stop at any time.
Pace
There is no pressure to remember, explain, or share more than feels comfortable.
We work slowly and respectfully, allowing stories and insights to emerge in their own time.
Grounding
Attention is given to steadiness, presence, and staying connected to the present moment.
Awareness
Experiences are not always remembered through words alone.
We may notice emotions, sensations, images, memories, or patterns that arise as we talk, write, or reflect.
Collaboration
You remain the expert on your own life.
My role is to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and support your exploration with care and respect.
Braided Rivers is not a counselling, psychotherapy, or crisis support service.
I do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions.
What I offer is a reflective space where experiences, memories, stories, and questions can be explored with curiosity, care, and respect.
